Paul Austin from Nitsua Group has worked in underground coal mining in hands-on maintenance, engineering, management and statutory roles for over 16 years. Paul then spent 8 years involved in coal mining and civil tunnelling equipment overhauls, repairs, upgrades and equipment hire along with specialist fabrication, electrical overhaul and site service works.

Recently, Paul has been on a 11 month contract in a Superintendent role on the construction of a new coal mine with the responsibilities for Project Management, Contract Management and Project Delivery on a number of major contracts including managing a Tier 2 Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractor.

Paul is currently working for a large joint venture project managing equipment repairs and overhauls for a major project in NSW.

Paul has developed, implemented and conducted ongoing improvement of systems for;

·       business management,

·       drafting, design & engineering control,

·       workshop management,

·       inventory control,

·       quality assurance,

·       safety compliance, and

·       specialist technical areas such as electrical flameproof overhauls and diesel flameproof overhauls.

Paul understands that systems need to be tailored to suit the business size and type to meet commercial and resource availability whilst still maintaining compliance to legal requirements and external certifiers.
